The birth of the Role Playing Shooter?

In this latest trailer for the kickass game Borderlands (which I playtested once BTW) the game declared it to be a merge of RPG and FPS, AKA Role Playing Shooter...actually, this isn't true. There was another game that tried to fuse both together, but failed in other aspects of the game, including it's other focus of hype, the AI sidekicks you had.

Bet you didn't hear that one did yah? Regardless, if Borderlands does well, then this could be a gateway to other RPS games. I've personally gotten sick of RPGs, so why not fuse them together with the genre I grew up on as a kid?

Did you ever like RPGs though?

It's hard to believe, but yeah, a few. In my teen years, I've always loved playing Icewind Dale, and I had fun playing Jade Empire, and XenoSaga...well, Xenosaga was fun, but also frustrating at times. I also liked FF7, though I stopped playing when I got stuck somewhere, and I loved playing through FFX, though that was when I had a gamefly account, and I couldn't play anymore due to it being a broken disk.

For me, RPGs are a hit and miss.
